We create and manufacture the jewelry in our own studio in Basel. In addition to the gemstones, we use high-quality metals such as 14 carat gold filled, 925 sterling silver, stainless steel and brass.
Peridot
Peridot, also known as chrysolite, is a fascinating gemstone that is prized for its bright green color. This gemstone belongs to the olivine mineral group and is formed deep in the earth's mantle under extreme pressure and temperature conditions. The unique green color of peridot, which can vary from a soft yellow-green to a deep olive green, is caused by the presence of iron in its chemical structure.
Historically, peridot has a long and rich history. The ancient Egyptians called it the "jewel of the sun" and believed it had protective powers against nightmares and evil spirits. Some of the earliest deposits of peridot were discovered on the island of Zabargad in the Red Sea, which has been known since ancient times. This mine has been a significant source of this gemstone for thousands of years.
Peridot is not only sought after for its beauty, but also for its supposed healing and protective properties. In modern crystal healing, peridot is often used to relieve stress, release negative emotions and open the heart chakra. It is also said to promote inner strength and self-confidence.
