Labradorite

Labradorite is a particularly eye-catching gemstone that is known for its special optical feature, known as labradorescence. This phenomenon manifests itself as an iridescent play of colors that occurs when light hits the stone and is reflected by its inner layers. The colors vary from intense blues and greens to golds, yellows and sometimes reds.

The stone can vary from translucent to opaque, from very light gray to anthracite with dark inclusions.

Labradorite is mainly mined in Canada, Finland, Madagascar, Mexico and the USA.
